About me.

Karen Cole

Strategy Consultant

Hi, I’m Karen Cole. I specialize in helping leaders of socially-minded businesses and nonprofits increase their impact and their bottom line. My own business education began as a college student when I ran my own door-to-door sales business. It was through this experience that I learned not only about hard work, long hours and the importance of attitude, but also the power of excellent strategy, systems, structure and processes - and the magic that happens when they are designed and used well!

I studied International Development Studies at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and moved to Cambodia soon after graduating in 2008. I gained a lifetime of experience there and had the experience of a lifetime! I interned with an anti-human trafficking organization, helped run a business incubator for Cambodian entrepreneurs, co-led a Christian ministry in the Cambodian Women’s Prison, and worked as a sales and strategy consultant with businesses and nonprofits that used market-based solutions to solve social problems. I worked closely with the sales consulting team at Whitten & Roy Partnership both full-time and part-time over the past 12 years, and have consulted with dozens of business and non-profit organizations across four continents over the last 12 years - in countries ranging from Myanmar, Malawi and Mexico to Uganda and the United States.

In 2018, I transitioned back to the United States and began working with a non-profit organization in Denver, Colorado called CrossPurpose, where I led the development of their alumni program, including a business accelerator program and financial freedom program. Since June, 2022, I left to begin consulting again full-time, and absolutely loved working alongside and learning from and with my clients.

In January, 2024 I married my loving and gracious husband, David, and moved back to my hometown, Holland, Michigan. I now have four adult step-children and the two sweetest grandsons ever. I love being outdoors, swimming, cycling, lifting, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with my family and friends.

I look forward to getting to know you and your story!

Karen
